101st OTTAWA BEAVER COLONY
Beaver Scouts is for boys and girls ages 5 to 7 years old. It's based on the motto of "sharing, sharing, sharing" with lots of fun cooperative games, crafts, songs and outdoor adventures. Beavers learn to "help take care of the world" through acts of community service like cleaning up a local park, and by helping others, including their fellow Beavers.
Beavers are typically split into "lodges" with a "lodge leader" being an older Beaver to lead them into games and activities. Beavers also earn their "tail" at the beginning of each scouting year and when they are invested. Brown Tails are 5 year olds, Blue Tails are 6 year olds, and White Tails are 7 year olds. At investiture, each Beaver much recite their promise: "I promise to love God and help take care of the world". We include spirituality in Beavers through moments of self-reflection, which are non-religious in nature.
The 101st Ottawa Beaver Colony at St. Aidan's is always out on adventures, whether hiking a local trail, doing community service, playing games or doing crafts, and exploring the world around them.
